This is an exciting new season! For the past six months, I (Michael) have been enrolled in the Intro to IHOP internship at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, MO. While there, I served on multiple worship teams, led worship at Hope City in urban KC and gleaned so much from Jesus in the bible classes. Undoubtedly, the most impactful time for Melody & I was the time spent before the Lord in the prayer room! Every week for the past 6 months we have spent hours in prayer and it has been incredible.
The Holy Spirit has confirmed His calling on our little family to vocational ministry though countless prophetic words and dreams and we have committed our lives to Him unreservedly. In this season, Melody and I will stand before the Lord interceding for the nations of the world, ministering the songs of heaven in the prayer room and leading worship in the inner city.
I want to highlight what it means for us to stand before the Lord. When God said, “My house shall be called a ‘House of Prayer,’” He means that His people will be people of prayer. Who is praying if not the people in His house? Wherever His believers are around the globe, we are called to pray. There are ministers of the gospel called to the business world, to manual labor, to foreign countries as full time preachers, those called to local churches as pastors and He has called some to be intercessors, that is, pray-ers. “And will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night?” Lk 18:7
The ministry at the International House of Prayer is outstanding. Their goal is to partner in the Great Commission by advancing 24/7 prayer and proclaiming the beauty of Jesus and His glorious return. The focused prayer overflows into ministry including delivering women and children from sex-trafficking (Exodus Cry), bringing orphans into families (Orphan Justice), teaching children the Word of God (Children’s Equipping Center), foreign missions (partnered with Every Home for Christ and YWAM), an urban prayer house and community center centered around social justice (Hope City), a multi-lingual prayer room (All Nations Prayer Room), small groups in different languages and for different demographics, local outreach, and a Christian Bible and music school (IHOPU).
